Move-in and preparation of the covered area

The Project 9PV-up marks the turning point for 9-Tech is transforming its photovoltaic panel recycling technology into a concrete industrial solution and replicable solution.

Construction of the plant will be completed by the first half of 2027.
By the end of 2027, all stages of the process will be optimized to ensure maximum efficiency.

The plant will be built in a industrial area in the municipality of Meolo (Venice), and is currently undergoing authorization.

Timeframes and Costs

The 9PV-up project is the decisive step toward transforming an experimental technology into a concrete industrial solution.
Through 9PV-up, 9-Tech’s technology will advance from TRL6 to TRL8, thereby completing the process scaling and optimization journey.

The project involves the construction of the world’s first industrial plant based on 9-Tech’s patented technology. It will have a capacity of approximately 600 kg/h and will enable the recovery of:

Plant parts

Identification and dismantling

Identification of the panel type and disassembly, including recovery of the aluminum frame and junction boxes.

Heat and mechanical treatment

Processing of laminates for the recovery of copper, glass and photovoltaic cells.

Ultrasonic treatment

Treatment of photovoltaic cells for the recovery ofsilver and silicon.

General Features

The activities will improve the separate collection of panels in North-Eastern Italy (provinces of Venice, Treviso and Padua), shortly served by specialized consorptiums and without dedicated plants in order to recycle these kind of waste.

The project is characterized by a high degree of automation and energy efficiency, as it is based on 9-Tech technology patented at the European level.

Action 1.1.4
“Support for Project Proposals for Excellence in Research and Innovation”

The project aims to develop and optimize an advanced technology for recycling materials from photovoltaic panels.

The ultimate goal is to establish a recycling line at TRL 8 and demonstrateits technical, economic, and environmentaleffectiveness.

Public funding granted: €1,000,000
